Cobblestone Quilt Show

Today I attended one of my area’s largest quilt shows, the Cobblestone Quilters Guild 2018 Quilt Show in Charleston S.C. I always look forward to this show because it’s only held every other year and it showcases some terrific talent. Awhile back I posted about being in a pattern test group and I’m happy to say that the designer entered her quilt into the show and took home a second place ribbon!

Quilt was designed, pieced and quilted by Melissa Wells. Pattern can be purchased by contacting the designer through her website at

My favorite part about a quilt show is the vendor mall! I love the wide variety of books, patterns and notions plus all of the neat extras that you only see at a show. This year I found something I really need; an organizer for my longarm quilting rulers. Since they are 1/4” thick, they won’t fit in the average ruler stand. Mine are all over my sewing room and never where I need them, close to my machine. The stands are custom made by Pappy’s Wood Shop in Lexington, SC. It is a beautiful stand and very well made. I know I will enjoy it for many years to come.

Pappy’s offers stands for quilting rulers and longarm rulers. The stands can either hang on the wall or sit on a table (pictured) and can be purchased here.

I know I haven’t added any pictures of current projects in my last few posts, but I will let you guys in on a little secret… I purchased a new longarm machine! I will share all of the details about it in a future post but for now I’m spending all of my spare time trying to learn the software that came with the machine. Since my previous longarm wasn’t computerized, this is a whole new ballgame for me!

  1. Hi Stephanie,
What a lovely ruler stand – the wood is gorgeous! I cannot wait to hear about your new longarm machine! You have to share all the details – what prompted you to buy a new one, how you’re doing adjusting and what is your first project? ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Thanks! I love the ruler stand and the couple I purchased it from were so sweet! I honestly was not in the market for a new longarm but my husband offered to get me one for our anniversary so I didn’t argue lol! I’m working on a blog post about it now and will share all of the wonderful details! The learning curve is steep so it’s definitely going to take awhile to adjust!😄
